Troop Meeting Today!

Hello Troop!

Today we will be working on our last art project for the Drawing Patch.  We will be putting them all together after this and sending your girls art work home.  Not all the girls have enjoyed this patch as much as we thought, though we have done some difficult concepts about perspective and such.  We have really tried to get the girls to know that is alright. It's not about liking everything we do, it is about trying new things and being open minded about them.  We have had some issues with the girls just wanting to play around and not being respectful. We have talked about this numerous times... please help us to get the point across that it is not ALL fun and games at girls scouts. We do have things that need to be accomplished so that they are exposed to as many new adventures as possible in our short time together.  We are not as strict about things in our troop as we could be.  We do not want to be, but we do need to have them willing to get things done and respectful of us leaders and each other.  We want everyone to have a positive experience at scouts!

We are going to need to change the time of girl scouts a bit. We are going to move our time up by 15 minutes. We are overlapping with the Boy Scouts at 7 when we leave and it is becoming a challenge to end our meetings. So our new meeting times will be 5:15-6:45 pm.  Thank you for being understanding!

All Cookie Orders at DUE TODAY!  I have to have them all to council tomorrow.  PLEASE bring a copy of your Drivers license with your orders today. We can not put in your daughters orders without it. THANK YOU!  Hope you have all had a great couple weeks selling and look forward to delivering those cookies in March.

Cookies!

Welcome To The 2014 Girl Scout Cookie Season!

Thank You for everyone who made it to the Cookie Rally last night. We truly appreciate all your time!  I think we got off on the right foot and I am totally pumped to see all the amazing things the girls are going to accomplish!  Cookies support our troop on the day to day... we can do more because of cookies! Every box counts! Thank you!

*Remember girls cannot sell without parental permission, so if you did not make it to the cookie kick off. You will need to meet with me to sign the permission slip and get the cookie packet.

A few things to remember:
Girls must be accompanied by an adult if selling door to door.
Girls need to represent Girl Scouts and be wearing their uniforms.
Payment for cookies are due upon delivery.

So, I spent a chunk of my morning making sure the girls were all set up in our Cookie Club website. This is a great online tool for the girls to reach more people in a convenient way. This is my first year using this program and both of my girls scouts seem to like it already. It seems very user friendly.

FYI: If people donate cookies online in our gift of caring program. They will be sending cookies to local cancer/chemo clinics for patients to enjoy while getting chemo. They have found that the thin mints settle upset stomachs. These boxes will go directly to council. If you have people donate on the normal order form we will be giving those cookies to our local VFW.

Tanya was going to text everyone their log in information. But, I can post the general info here.

You access cookie club by going to this site:
  https://cookieclub.littlebrownie.com

Your log in is your daughter name(lowercase)and our troop number.
Your password is your daughters name with the first letter capitalized and first initial of her last name(This last name initial is also capitalized).  Example:  Login: megan1256   Paswrd: MeganN
The program did a couple odd things.
Lauren: You have two ones for your troop number 11256
Emily: Since you go by your middle name you will need to type in your first and middle name together as your log in and the name you go by is your password.

I hope that Cookie Club is a helpful tool for everyone! If you have any questions please let Tanya or I know. We are so happy to help you find the answer.

There are some great tools for your girls online, I suggest:

Little Brownie Baker
http://www.littlebrowniebakers.com   They have the link to cookie club, the cookie app and lots of helpful information, activities for girls and families.

Helpful and fun suggestions for Selling Cookies(lots of good stuff here, even more order forms to download if needed):

We are setting our Troop Cookie Goal at 2500 boxes. That is close to the average of what the girls decided in our meeting.

Important Dates:
Feb 17th: Last day to sell cookies!
Feb 18th:  Troop Meeting and all Orders are due to Leaders:
Cookies will arrive sometime after March 11th. We will update you all on this as it gets closer and we know more. It is vital that you pick up cookies the day they are delivered!  We are very lucky to have someone donating their personal space for cookie delivery but all cookies need to be out of their garage by end of day! You must be flexible as possible with this week and we will do our best to inform you with as much notice as possible! THANK YOU!

Our Girls are so Awesome! I hope that they are excited to sell and reach our goal so we can have some awesome events in our future together.  2014 Cookies will help our troop to grow in so many ways!  So... have a great time out there!

Hey Troop Families!  We have some big events starting with Cookies... The count down is on to our cookie season! One week from today we will be meeting at the GR High School for our Cookie Kick Off from 6pm-8pm Please plan on attending!  Cookies will go on sale the next day (Feb 1st) and parental permission is needed for girls to participate.

Our next troop meeting we will continue on our Drawing and Cookie CEO patch. We have some seriously talented girls!  Just a reminder about Dues we are asking for 2 dollars per meeting per girl which is adding up to 4 dollars each month. This will help us with supplies and other items needed for the troop. Thank you!

The following troop meeting will be held on Feb 18th. This is also an important day for Cookies. All Cookie orders are DUE to us that day.  It conveniently coincides with our troop meeting which makes it a bit easier.

Tanya will not be able to attend Ice Skating tomorrow. So keep a look out for me to sign your girl in. If someone needs a ride, I do have two seat belts available to help out.  Please let me know, I will need to plan accordingly.   Thank you all!

Cookies will be here before you know it!

Creative Girls!

We had the girls do some drawings last week starting on a news badge. You have some very creative girls! I will be holding onto their drawings for now until we have completed all activities.  We talked about goal setting with Cookies. The girls wrote down a Personal Goal and we added that up to make our Troop Goal for Cookie sales. We will be posting the numbers on our board for the girls to see and continue to strive for that goal. The girls are very open to challenging themselves and selling as many cookies as possible. We then talked about what our troop activity will be if they reach their set goal. They are supposed to be brainstorming about this still. We talked about having a whole day together filled with many different activities. They tossed out some awesome ideas, but they all boiled down to one thing: Spending time together.  We will officially decide together as a troop.

Our next meeting is on Tuesday January 21st, We will continue working on our drawing skills and the Cookie CEO patch.

We will be placing an order next week from the Girl Scout Store for patches. If you are in need of anything we are happy to add it on to One order. Please let Tanya or I know! We need the girls looking proper for cookie sales.

Our Official time for Cookie Kick off is 6-8pm at the Green River High School on Friday January 31st . We will be having different stations for the girls to learn about the incentives, rules and such for cookie sales. We will then be pulling the parents aside to have the official rule meeting and sign permission for girls to sell cookies. The girls cannot sell without your consent and we hope to take care of all the official things in one swift swoop. Cookies then go on sale the next day, February 1st. I will be posting helpful things on here or you can always go to the Girl Scout Web page for lots of great information. Or you can be friends with the  Girl Scouts of Montana & Wyoming or GSMW South West WY-Region on Facebook. They are posting lots of helpful information.
Please do not hesitate to ask any questions, we are happy to help.

Also, Save the Date for March 1st the Daddy Daughter Date Night will be held that evening. More information and official invite to come.

January 2014 Update

Welcome back after the Holidays, we hope everyone had a wonderful break. We are looking forward to a new year together. I want to start by welcoming you all to the beginning of the 2014 Cookie Season!  Our Cookie Sales information is starting to come in and we look forward to our Cookie Kick Off on January 31st at Green River High School. Not sure if we have a conformation of time yet. Will let you know as soon as we know for sure. ALL girls and a parent must attend this event. While the girls are working on booths and learning about the cookies we will be having a parent meeting getting you all the information that is needed. Cookie Sales then start the next day on February 1st.
We are asking for help if anyone is interested in helping with cookies. We will need a central location for our troop picking up cookies. If someone has space for our initial troop cookies we would be forever grateful. Tanya and I have limited space for so many boxes of cookies.  Please let Tanya or I know if you would be willing to help.

We have two troop meeting this month. January 7th and January 21st same time and location. Please remember that our troop meetings are an hour and a half. We will finished up by 7pm and please come in the building and pick up your girls. We just need to know they are going home with a guardian and we are not just sending them out in the dark. We are starting Two new badges and hope to have them finished up about the time cookies finish. One is the Cookie CEO badge and the other is a bit more fun and creative!

We have a conformation on Ice Skating for January 25th from 12:45-3:00pm in Rock Springs. We can skate at 1pm but are asking to show up early to start checking out skates. We will be providing hot chocolate for our troop. FYI the concessions will be open, so if girls would like to bring money from home and purchase food items, that is an option.   We are looking forward to seeing everyone soon. Thanks for all you do!
