We will be meeting at the normal location at our normal time. The girls can pass off their Girl Scout Law to me and we will be working on the second to last item needed for the First Aide legacy badge. Also... we had our leadership meeting so I do have some tentative dates for you to be aware of for Our Service Unit activities. We are just in need of confirming locations/times.
January 29th- Ice Skating in Rock Springs.
January 31st- Cookie Kick-Off. This is a very important event. We need all girls and a parent to be to this event. We will be going over all items/information needed to know for Cookie Sales. (Which start Feb 1st, 2014).
February 22nd- Daddy Daughter Date Night
Again these events are going to be happening the dates are what we are shooting for unless we have scheduling issues with the locations. We have lots of fun things to look forward to!

Parade Update
We are meeting at the top of C street (by main st) at 5 pm. We will be riding in an open trailer that has small lighted trees down the side and one large tree at the front. We have hay bales to sit on and be semi cozy. Please dress warm and bring a blanket to wrap in! There are signs down each side of the trailer letting you know it is Girl Scouts. We will need parents to fill out a permission slip when you drop your girls off. We will meet at the end of the parade route by Bunning park. Can text you exact location when we get there. We opted to do this because the girls chose to... so please come and be apart of this event with us. Thank you so much for your time and support!

Rock Springs Light Parade
The girls voted and wanted to be apart of the Lighted Parade in Rock Springs this year. We are joining the Brownie troop who has a trailer we will be riding on/walking by on Saturday night for the parade. We have lighted Santa hats and another lighted surprise for the girls. If they want anything else to light up, that is up to them. We are very thankful to the other girl scouts troop for letting us tag along with them. Olivia N. and I will be going over Friday evening to Rock Springs to help decorate the trailer, any girl who would like to help may do so. I only have two seat belts available for that. Just call me: 801-837-8690. We will be meeting in Rock Springs Saturday evening right at 5 pm. I will provide exact directions for that location this evening. As you are very aware, it is frigid outside. Please please have warm enough clothes on for this event! We look forward to seeing everyone Saturday for this fun event!
We have rescheduled the Hospital tour for the 17th of December. Hopefully the weather will be nicer to us then. Better safe than sorry! Thank you for all your support and understanding! -Megan

UPDATE: November 19th Activity
We are having an outing for our upcoming troop meeting. We are going to be getting a tour of the Castle Rock Ambulance Bay located at 1400 Uinta Dr, Green River, WY 82935. We will be having you drop your girls off and pick them up at this location. (It is located directly across the street from the Convalescent Center) Do not meet at our normal location please, We do not have the vehicles to transport the girls back and forth. Castle Rock Ambulance is being very accommodating to make time for us on such a short request. This will be a great opportunity for the girls to learn more about our local Emergency Medical Services and get closer to earning the First Aid Legacy Badge!
To keep with our theme if you need to contact Castle Rock Ambulance:
In an emergency, if an ambulance is needed, please call 911. For non-emergency information, please call (307) 872-4545.
Thank you parents!

DUES
After looking at our Fall Sales and the fact that we are a new troop. We have decided that it is best for our Junior troop that we start requesting Dues. We have decided on 2 dollars a meeting. Since we usually have two meetings a month, this will be 4 dollars a month. This will pay for any supplies that are needed for our activities. Some activities are more money than others, so we thought this was a good balance per girl. This also makes the girls responsible per month, we will add it to the Kaper Chart and they will be in charge of collecting Dues. You can pay per troop meeting, for the month or even further ahead. This is your choice and the girls will be responsible for keeping track(with supervision). To clarify, this is for ONLY our Junior Troop meetings. Thank You!

Lots of Firsts, First Aid Badge
Today was my first meeting with the Troop and it was an absolute joy to meet all the girls finally! We started off the meeting by establishing the Kaper Chart and rules on how our meetings are going to flow. A Kaper Chart is a job chart basically. The girls agreed that we will be adding the following responsibilities to the Kaper Chart: Opening Song Leader, Friendship Leader, Snacks, Promise Leader, Pledge Leader, Cleanup Leader and One Good Thing Moment. They will rotate responsibilities and have a chance to do all of them. We talked about snacks being their responsibility to bring and share. We will get something to pass around so that they remember to bring something when it's their turn. We talked about this being a privileged and if they cannot clean up after themselves and be responsible, we will take away snacks.
We moved on to talk about all the upcoming events. Because the Sleepover was moved up we opened up the option to attend the light parade on the 7th of December. The majority wanted to attend so we will be going to that as a troop. We will get more information to you all next week about when and where we will need to be for that, but do save the date.
We also talked about their need to memorize the Girl Scout Law and Promise. I will post them here and it is in their books. Or you can find it on the Girl Scout website. Once they can pass off both the law and promise to me starting next week, I will give them a reward.
We talked about the Donation Drive more and since it is such short notice we will not be working on that as a troop. We do encourage the girls to get out and spread the word to family, neighbors and friends about the drive. All Essential, Non-Food Items items will need to be dropped off the night of the sleepover at the church. We talked about them always being a girl scout and what that means. If they have a sash/vest they should be wearing it when representing anything for girl scouts. It is not a big rush, be the girls will need to attain their girl scout vest and troop numbers in the near future. All items can be purchased on the Girl Scout website. http://gsmw.org/ click on the shop button OR
http://www.girlscoutshop.com/COUNCIL-OWN-MERCHANDISE/MONTANA-AND-WYOMING-COUNCIL
I will post a picture of the uniform for reference. If you need some help, let us know.
We had LOTS of information for them today... it was a bit overwhelming at first. We were eventually able to move on to our activity. We started working on the First Aid Badge. We have five main things they need to accomplish to attain this Legacy Badge. We talked about basic first aid and made first aid kits today. One down, four to go. They did a great job and were very smart when asked about what they should do in an emergency. We finished off our meeting with a friendship circle for the first time. It was great to be together as a troop today. Thank you so much for this opportunity to help lead your girls. It is a lot of work to volunteer to be a leader, but it is so going to be so much fun watching them take on more responsibilities and grow in this Girl lead journey.

Welcome Junior Girl Scout Troop 1256
Thank you for taking the time to visit our Junior Troop 1256 Blog!
After discussing some ways to keep parents and the girls informed with upcoming events Tanya and I(Megan) decided to create this blog. This way there is a central place of information for our troop. We will continue to Text about changes and events but plan to keep this blog up to date with information.
At the moment this is not a completely private blog, but you cannot search for it and find it. You have to know the the address to get here. I can make it private and only have certain people invited to view the blog. To do that, It would require you to log in with blogger and sign in before viewing the blog. I am not sure everyone is willing to do that. I will keep things discrete on here and not share private information about our girls. I do hope to post pictures here in the future if that is alright with everyone. That way everyone has access to what we are doing at troop meeting.
Tanya and I are very excited to move forward with Troop activities. There is so much to learn and we are looking forward to getting to know your girls better. Girl Scouts has so much to offer our Girls, it will be a joy to watch them grow through the course of this year! Please let us know if you have any questions or concerns we are happy to help get you an answer.

Some important dates that are coming up:
Troop Meeting Change! We have decided to move the meeting we had scheduled on November 26th up to November 19th. That way we are not invading on any Holiday plans, it is already a busy week. With doing that we will continue again on our every other week Schedule for Troop Meetings on Tuesdays at the same location and time. This makes our dates for troop meetings in December the 3rd and 17th.
Non-Perishable Essentials Donation Drive!
We are going to be hosting a Non-Food Drive. We are asking
for each girl to bring any non-food Essential items to donate to a
local charity. Example: toilet paper, feminine hygiene products, diapers, soap,
toothpaste...etc. All the girls/troops will be bringing their items to the Service Unit event we will be having on Friday November 22nd. The reward for their hard work for this donation drive is to attend this big event.
Friday November 22nd from 6pm-9am we will be having a Service Unit activity with all the other Troops in Green River. It will be held at the same location as our Troop Meetings. This event is planned as a sleepover but that is always up to each girl/parent. Girls are encouraged to attend part or all of it. Girls will need to be picked up promptly at 9am on the morning of the 7th. The service unit will be providing dinner, PG movies, activities and a light breakfast for the event. Personal items will be needed to sleep. No Electronic Devices Please! We will be taking away any phones, ipads etc for the night and they will be returned to parents in the morning. So, please just leave all electronics at home! Do not forget to bring all donation items to the Sleepover! We are going to have a great time together and help out a lot of people!
