Facebook & Girl Scout Week

If anyone is interested there is a private group on Facebook for Green River Girl Scouts.  They have posted pictures of our Service Unit Activities if anyone is interested in joining.
Ice Skating @Rock Springs Rec Center Jan 25th, 2014
This of course is Girl Scout Week, where we get to celebrate the first Girl Scout Meeting held March 12th, 1912.  In celebration our service unit put together a basket to donate to the first baby girl born this week @ Memorial Hospital.  When this was decided we had already planned out our troop activities and did not bring this to the girls to help put together. I did mention it to the girls last troop meeting, but we decided to not ask for more from you all at this time. We did donate from our troop diapers, wipes, a baby bunny hat/mittens, mitten clips and baby wash.

A last minute idea for a  picture to be taken before taking the basket over happened last Saturday. I think we managed to get a girl from every troop represented.  We are proud to announce that a sweet baby girl was born Sunday March 9 @ 7:25pm. Little Baby Harper is the winner of our baby basket! She is cute as a button and just happens to be a cousin of one of our Green River Girl Scouts! Congratulations to Harper and her Family!

March 11th, Troop Meeting

We will be doing something different this next week for our meeting.  Starting Sunday the 10th is Girl Scout Week.  It is Girl Scouts way of celebrating it's Birthday, which is officially March 12th.  The very first Girl Scout meeting was held on March, 12th in Savannah, GA.  We are going to have a party at my house to help celebrate the birth of Girl Scouting. (This way we can have an intimate gathering without making a mess at the church)  It will still be at our new normal time, 5:15-6:45 pm.

Address of event:
1730 Idaho St #3
GR, WY
We will be watching a video about Juliette Low, The founder of Girl Scouts, while comparing scouting then and now.  Also, some fun birthday activities to help celebrate the event.  I have sent out official birthday invitations to the girls.  We look forward to seeing everyone on Tuesday and having a party together!

Troop Meeting Today!

Hello Troop!

Today we will be working on our last art project for the Drawing Patch.  We will be putting them all together after this and sending your girls art work home.  Not all the girls have enjoyed this patch as much as we thought, though we have done some difficult concepts about perspective and such.  We have really tried to get the girls to know that is alright. It's not about liking everything we do, it is about trying new things and being open minded about them.  We have had some issues with the girls just wanting to play around and not being respectful. We have talked about this numerous times... please help us to get the point across that it is not ALL fun and games at girls scouts. We do have things that need to be accomplished so that they are exposed to as many new adventures as possible in our short time together.  We are not as strict about things in our troop as we could be.  We do not want to be, but we do need to have them willing to get things done and respectful of us leaders and each other.  We want everyone to have a positive experience at scouts!

We are going to need to change the time of girl scouts a bit. We are going to move our time up by 15 minutes. We are overlapping with the Boy Scouts at 7 when we leave and it is becoming a challenge to end our meetings. So our new meeting times will be 5:15-6:45 pm.  Thank you for being understanding!

All Cookie Orders at DUE TODAY!  I have to have them all to council tomorrow.  PLEASE bring a copy of your Drivers license with your orders today. We can not put in your daughters orders without it. THANK YOU!  Hope you have all had a great couple weeks selling and look forward to delivering those cookies in March.

Cookies!

Welcome To The 2014 Girl Scout Cookie Season!

Thank You for everyone who made it to the Cookie Rally last night. We truly appreciate all your time!  I think we got off on the right foot and I am totally pumped to see all the amazing things the girls are going to accomplish!  Cookies support our troop on the day to day... we can do more because of cookies! Every box counts! Thank you!

*Remember girls cannot sell without parental permission, so if you did not make it to the cookie kick off. You will need to meet with me to sign the permission slip and get the cookie packet.

A few things to remember:
Girls must be accompanied by an adult if selling door to door.
Girls need to represent Girl Scouts and be wearing their uniforms.
Payment for cookies are due upon delivery.

So, I spent a chunk of my morning making sure the girls were all set up in our Cookie Club website. This is a great online tool for the girls to reach more people in a convenient way. This is my first year using this program and both of my girls scouts seem to like it already. It seems very user friendly.

FYI: If people donate cookies online in our gift of caring program. They will be sending cookies to local cancer/chemo clinics for patients to enjoy while getting chemo. They have found that the thin mints settle upset stomachs. These boxes will go directly to council. If you have people donate on the normal order form we will be giving those cookies to our local VFW.

Tanya was going to text everyone their log in information. But, I can post the general info here.

You access cookie club by going to this site:
  https://cookieclub.littlebrownie.com

Your log in is your daughter name(lowercase)and our troop number.
Your password is your daughters name with the first letter capitalized and first initial of her last name(This last name initial is also capitalized).  Example:  Login: megan1256   Paswrd: MeganN
The program did a couple odd things.
Lauren: You have two ones for your troop number 11256
Emily: Since you go by your middle name you will need to type in your first and middle name together as your log in and the name you go by is your password.

I hope that Cookie Club is a helpful tool for everyone! If you have any questions please let Tanya or I know. We are so happy to help you find the answer.

There are some great tools for your girls online, I suggest:

Little Brownie Baker
http://www.littlebrowniebakers.com   They have the link to cookie club, the cookie app and lots of helpful information, activities for girls and families.

Info on what a cookie can do:

Helpful and fun suggestions for Selling Cookies(lots of good stuff here, even more order forms to download if needed):
http://gsmw.org/selling-cookies-toolbox/

We are setting our Troop Cookie Goal at 2500 boxes. That is close to the average of what the girls decided in our meeting.

Important Dates:
Feb 17th: Last day to sell cookies!
Feb 18th:  Troop Meeting and all Orders are due to Leaders:
Cookies will arrive sometime after March 11th. We will update you all on this as it gets closer and we know more. It is vital that you pick up cookies the day they are delivered!  We are very lucky to have someone donating their personal space for cookie delivery but all cookies need to be out of their garage by end of day! You must be flexible as possible with this week and we will do our best to inform you with as much notice as possible! THANK YOU!

Our Girls are so Awesome! I hope that they are excited to sell and reach our goal so we can have some awesome events in our future together.  2014 Cookies will help our troop to grow in so many ways!  So... have a great time out there!
